GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

As we know that good governance system is vital for efficient and effective working and operations to achieve the set goal. In line with the best practice, organizational governance systems and practices are designed to ensure adequate control in operational process, transparency and accountability. BSDA has a General Committee (GC) of 21 members and an Executive Committee (EC) of 7 members for policy formulations. The Executive Committee members are elected from General committee. Within 7 members of EC, one is Chairman, one is Vice-Chairman and five are the Executive members. EC has an Executive Director (ED) cum Member Secretary.

GENERAL COMMITTEE (GC)

The members of GC associated with different professions in the field of Social work, Business, House wife, Retired Soldier, Retired Bankers, Retired GoB Officer, Lawyer, Physician, Teacher, Writer and Researcher. Key responsibility of the General Committee (GC) is to form a new EC. The EC proposes for approval of new rules and manuals, guidelines, policies, yearly budget, plans, audit reports and annual report and guide the organization according to Mission, Vision and Objectives. Members of GC meet once a year in the AGM and if necessary, they can sit for Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). 13th Annual General Meeting was held on 06.11.09 at Head office premises.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (EC)

The EC consists of 7 Executive members with different professions. Duration of EC is 3 years. EC guided Chief Executive designated Executive Director on Administration, Policy formulation and Overall management. All kind of works of the Executive Committee have been implemented and conducted through Executive Director. EC is accountable to GC. It holds meeting at least once every three months, if necessary more one meeting can be called of. ED keep link between EC and Management. During the year 2009-2010, six EC meetings were held and the dates were: 15 September 2009, 22 October 2009, 06 November 2009, 04 December 2009, 26 December 2009 and 04 April 2010. In those meetings, various issues have been discussed and necessary decisions have been taken accordingly.
